'Bordeaux Rascal' osoittautui 'Balantino'ksi... No kerrankos näitä sattuu, nimisotkuja.
Totta puhuen minua ei harmita laisinkaan, 'Balantino' (tai 'Balentino' tai 'Valentino', kaikkia käytetään) on kerrassaan hurmaava! Värit hehkuvat punaisen ja vihreän sävyissä ja kukat kestävät pitkään. Ne ovat myös varsin kauniin muotoisia kiehkuraisine, taaksepäin kääntyvine terälehtineen. Varsinainen onnenkantamoinen siis! - Muistan miettineeni 'Balantino'nkin tilaamista mutta jättäneeni sen sitten pois kun toimituksen perilletulosta ei ollut takuita, ensimmäinen lähetyshän hävisi matkalla.

Sonatini 'Balantino'



Sonatini-tilaus Royal Colorsilta oli testitilaus ja kun se tuli onnellisesti perille, ei minua voinut estää enää mikään - All you wonderful bulbs out there, come to Mama! - No kohta estää tilanpuute mutta kuka sitä nyt sellaista ajattelee ennen kuin on pakko, ei kukaan.

Pidätyskykyni petettyä saapui 'Santiago', se oli mukana jo ensimmäisessä tilauksessa, siinä mikä hävisi, ja jäin sitä kovasti kaipaamaan. 'Santiago'n kanssa samassa boxissa tulivat 'Apricot Parfait' ja 'Jungle Star', ja juuri se ehti näistä kolmesta kukkaan ensimmäisenä.

Sekä 'Santiago' että 'Apricot Parfait' kasvattavat kukkavanoja, joten kukintaa odotettavissa vielä keväällekin.

I ordered Sonatini 'Bordeaux Rascal' but got 'Balantino' instead. No hard feelings though, I just love the flowers with their radiant red spiced with white and green.

From the second batch from Royal Colors 'Jungle Star' is the first to make it to blooming state. The other two are 'Santiago' and 'Apricot Parfait' both of which will be blossoming also, only later.

'Helios' kukkii! Väri on keltainen, hento ja kuulas, ja pukee tätä herkkää ja tyylikästä kukkaa parhaalla mahdollisella tavalla.



'Bordeaux Rascal'in kukkavarsi on vasta kehittymässä, joskin väriä näkyy jo...

Nyt ovat Sonatinit jo ruukuissansa.
Pidin niitä vesiastiassa yön yli jotta juurten muodostuminen aktivoituisi. Ennen istutusta puhdistin juuristoalueen vanhoista juurista ja kuolleesta pintasolukosta.


Sipulit ovat aina ihastuttaneet minua. Niin ihan tavalliset ruokasipulit kuin muutkin sipulikasvit. Mikäpä siis sen mukavampaa kuin amaryllissipuleiden kanssa puuhaaminen...

Kaikessa pyöreydessään ja täyteläisyydessään ja elämä sisällänsä ne ovat suurenmoisia luomuksia ja taideteoksia jo kauan ennen ensimmäistäkään lehteä tai kukintaa. Ja 'Helios' on herkullisempi kuin yksikään konvehti, eikö totta!?

I've always loved onions and bulbs in all their forms. They are so perfect. Isn't 'Helios' the sweetest!?
